At Rosemeadow-Appin Anglican Churches we think that following Jesus isn’t just for adults, but that children and teenagers can come to a genuine faith as well. And so we want to run excellent programs that help children and teenagers explore the Christian faith in a safe and age appropriate way. We have a number of programs that run on a Sunday and during the week:
During the Week
Our Playtime group runs on a Friday morning from 9:30am – 10:30am and is for children who are 0 – K and their parents. It runs at Rosemeadow Anglican Church.
Our program consists of singing, games and stories for the children. We also run a short bible-study for those who want to stay after morning tea.
Our Kidz Klub runs on a Wednesday afternoon from 4:30pm – 6pm and is for children who are K – Yr6. It runs at Rosemeadow Anglican Church.
Our program consists of a time of supervised free play, a 30min bible lesson following curriculum from Crusaders – an independent Christian youth organisation, and dinner. Our volunteers who provide dinner are able to cater for different dietary needs.
Youth Bible Study
Our Youth Bible Study runs on a Wednesday afternoon from 4:30pm – 6pm and is for high school-aged students in Yr7 – Yr12. It runs upstairs at Rosemeadow Anglican Church.
During Youth Bible Study, the group will spend time playing a board game or card game, and then spend about half an hour studying a passage from the Sunday preaching program. The group then joins with Kidz Klub for dinner.
Créche runs at Rosemeadow Anglican Church every Sunday for children who are not yet at school (this includes School Holidays). Unfortunately, we do not have a créche at St Mark’s, Appin.
Parents are required to take their children upstairs to sign them in about 1/3 of the way into the service, where a team of three leaders will run a basic program and supervise them. There is then a designated time for parents to head upstairs before the end of the service to pick up and sign out their children.
Sunday School runs at both Rosemeadow Anglican Church and St Mark’s, Appin each Sunday during the school term for children who are in K – Yr6. Unfortunately, we do not run Sunday School during the school holidays.
Children go to their program after ‘Announcements’ about 1/3 of the way into the service, they then return to the congregation shortly before the end of the service.
Our Sunday Schools follow curriculum from Crusaders – an independent Christian youth organisation.
Our Youth Group, for teenagers from Yr7 – Yr12, runs on Sunday afternoon from 4:30pm – 6pm during school terms at Rosemeadow Anglican Church.
Teeangers often start arriving from 4:15pm. During the program, we play some group games, play a game to help us learn a verse from the Bible, spend some time sharing about our own Christian lives and praying, and then spend 30-40min discussing a passage from the Bible. It’s both fun and helps teenagers learn what it means to be a Christian.
We want kids and youth to be able to learn about the Christian faith and following Jesus Christ in a safe environment, and so take child protection (or safe ministry) very seriously. All of our leaders are required to complete a safe ministry course every three years. We are also compliant with legislation around Working with Children Checks. Beyond following legislation, we also actively ensure that we’re creating a safe place for kids to learn & grow.
